Darren Criss Takes Center Stage On Tonight's 'Glee': Here's What You Need To Know About Him!

Darren CrissWith another new "Glee" episode comes another new face roaming the halls of William McKinley High School...not that we're complaining. No, with a face (and pipes!) like Darren Criss', there's nothing here worth whining about.

Darren makes his "Glee" debut as Dalton Academy student Blaine in tonight's "Never Been Kissed" episode. Blaine and Kurt (Chris Colfer) meet and (hopefully...probably) fall for one another! Fans got a sneak peek of Darren and his classmates doing their own rendition of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" last week when the clip premiered on PerezHilton.com. Let's just say Darren's sweet ditty has us swooning already! (Watch the clip after the jump and prepare to gleek out!)

All of this leaves us with one question: Who exactly is Darren Criss? Well, the actor-singer-songwriter made a splash back in 2009 as Josh Burton on ABC's short-lived witchy series "Eastwick." But the curly-haired crooner is probably best known as Harry Potter. No, he's not Daniel Radcliffe in disguise. During his senior year at the University of Michigan, Darren starred as the boy wizard in a musical parody called "A Very Potter Musical." What began as a fun project turned into a viral sensation when the musical hit YouTube, gaining a rather cult-like following. In addition to acting, Darren runs a production company called StarKids Productions with several of his U of Mich friends.

As for his appearance on tonight's "Glee," Darren hopes Blaine will be a positive role model for viewers as the character is openly gay and proud. The actor told Entertainment Weekly in October, "At this point, Kurt’s [sexuality] has been such a sense of discord in his life. Blaine finds [being gay] empowering. He embraces who he is, and sees Kurt [struggling with] the same things that he had to deal with, and I think he wants to impart that knowledge," adding, "It’s great to see a strong character like this on a hit show that so many people are watching. I can’t really think of any other gay characters on TV that are this young and sure of themselves. I hope all the kids struggling with this issue can look to a guy like Blaine and feel [inspired] by his confidence."

An up-and-coming talent plus a pioneering new character for television? Welcome aboard, Darren!

Are you excited that Darren Criss has joined that cast of "Glee," too? Do you think Blaine and Kurt are the long-awaited "power couple" we've been hearing so much about? What do you think of his version of "Teenage Dream"? Let us know!
